August Week Two

We are still in the past this week.

I have been rooting through Spotify for song titles reflecting different years of the 20th Century (and therefore don’t necessarily reflect my own taste). You can riff off the year, the decade, the lyric or just the mood of the songs (good luck), whatever gets you going. Maybe you could show us what the vamps looked like in the past or perhaps tell about another Decade Dance that went horribly wrong (or very right!) – do whatever you like. Mix and match the lyrics and the decades if you like. Have fun.

1. 1901 (Phoenix)

Think it's not what you say, what you say is way too complicated

2. 1969 (The Stooges)

It's another year for me and you
Another year with nothing to do

3. 1979 (Smashing Pumpkins)

We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts

4. 1985 (Bowling for Soup)

She hates time make it stop

5. 1999 (Prince)

Don't worry, I won’t hurt u
I only want u 2 have some fun

August Week One

The first set of prompts are quotes about the past:

The past is but the past of a beginning.
H. G. Wells (1866 - 1946)

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
George Santayana (1863 - 1952)

History is the version of past events that people have decided to agree upon.
Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 - 1821)

The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.
William Faulkner (1897 - 1962)

Reflect on your present blessings, of which every man has many; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.
Charles Dickens (1812 - 1870)

July Poll

As there was a draw in the poll last month, there will be no poll this month while we run through the second winning theme, but August's poll still needs your suggestions!

What theme(s) would YOU would like to see for AUGUST.

These suggestions will then form next month’s poll* along with another suggestion that I will throw in myself. In the event that we have less than 10 suggestions, I will fill in the rest to make up the numbers. If your theme suggestion isn’t picked, then you are welcome to suggest it again in other polls.

Remember: your suggestions for themes should be broad so that it’s easy to make up 20 prompts. For instance, ‘teacup’ is too narrow, but ‘Alice in Wonderland' works (more or less). Please expand on your suggestion in the comments to this post.

* I reserve the right to reject, tweak or combine any suggestions that are unsuitable, inappropriate for everyone or unworkable in any way. This might be because the suggested theme is a) too narrow and I can’t think of 20 prompts, b) too similar to a recent theme, or c) because it’s just plain unpleasant (i.e. sexist, racist, homophobic etc).

The poll will probably close at 12.00 BST (UTC+1), (i.e. if I remember), on Monday, 30th July 2012. If there is a tie, I will choose the theme to do first from the winners and the other winner(s) will follow the month(s) after and there will be no poll for that month(s).

This poll is closed.

My suggestion for a monthly theme for SEPTEMBER is...

July Week Three.

I love talking about random, behind the pictures- tvd stuff. So I'm just gonna tell my thoughts about things I've noticed in these pictures. I didn't have time to make icons so bear with me..I've just cropped and colored the pictures :)

Picture 1:

Being a big bookworm, the books didn't go unnoticed. Now, I would like to know if those on the little table near the chair are Salvatore diaries, bits of Stefan's diaries, classic literature??? Does Damon read them? We've been Stefan's room full of books but I 'd like to know more about Damon and books! Your thoughts?
The, near Damon..there's a blanket and I immediately thought of Elena. The brothers don't get cold so who would it be for? To warm human Elena (sigh) and keep her warm?

Picture 2:
Lots of liquor bottles!! This is not a surprise. We've seen Damon drink by them in every episode and from time to time, even Stefan took a sip out of those enchanting crystal bottles. I wanna know if those black, wood-ish bottles on the right of the picture contain liquor as well or if it's something different..blood containers? And just a thing..have you noticed the little black bottle near the crystal bottle with the amber liquid in it? There's something quite weird about seems there's something solid inside... O.o

Picture 3:
Ok, not a big fan of wine here. I don't like it at all. But still, is that French wine? I mean, Katherine and Isobel are friends (should I out quote marks around that word?) and we all know Isobel's obsessed with French...or is that Italian wine maybe? I would know something about since I am Italian.
Did Katherine actually pay for that wine? I'd rather think not, she just compelled people probably...
Did you notice the painting? You can see it's a countryside...did Isobel put it there or was it already in the house? Lots and lots of questions.

Picture 4:
Digital camera! I don't remember if that's Elena's or Bonnie's. Anyway, was it a present? Or a personal purchase? What brand is it? Maybe it's Bonnie's presence but I don't have much to say about this. Oh, the color seems to be mauve...a favorite color of the owner maybe?

Picture 5:
Matt's house. I've always found his house to be a mixture of modern and old. There are sea colors with different variations of blue and light blue but also wood furniture. The whole house is very light in color. We see a room in the doesn't seem to be Matt's room cause it looks very feminine in its patterns so maybe it was her mom's or Vicky's? I think the first since it's not very decorated as a teenager girl's room would. I would love to know who chose the sun/sunflower hanged over Matt and Car's seems very artistic and modern, I think Vicky or her mom chose it. Also, the couch and the pillow...modern decorations and the overall blue color of the house. My questions is always, who's behind it? Matt's mom seems the woman who would make plans to decorate but would never actually do it so I like to think Matt and Vicky got together and played with furniture and things they could afford to buy and gave a new style to their house.
